We are a full service travel agency with a staff of experienced
professionals. For the past 21 years we have prided ourselves in
offering prompt, personalized service. We have traveled extensively
and can offer first hand knowledge of cruise ships, resorts, airlines
and hotels worldwide. Our three office locations are all in suburban
Washington DC however, we have clients all across the country.
Recently, we have been acknowledged in the travel section of
newspapers in California, Florida, Kansas and New York. We have also
been featured several times in Frommer's Budget Travel Magazine.
We are ready to assist you with any travel request. We offer airline
and rail tickets, car rentals, escorted tours, customized
itineraries, vacation packages, cruises and airport "park & fly"
programs. We also offer travel insurance and can arrange visas for
destinations that require one.
Our agency does not solicit large commercial accounts. We do encourage the business of small, exclusive corporate accounts. At present we work with several European embassies in Washington DC. We will offer references upon request.
Most travel agencies offer the same basic services. In the final

Lisa Stevens is our Sales Manager and works from the Burke, Virginia office. She has over 21 years experience in the travel industry, 15 in a managerial role. She offers a complete knowledge of the Caribbean islands as they have been the primary focus of her career. She has also explored Iceland, Germany, Austria, England and most of the mainland United States and Hawaii. Additionally, she has cruised with several cruise lines and has achieved Commodore status with Princess and Cunard. Lisa's organizational skills and strict attention to detail help her plan each trip as if it were her own vacation. She also enjoys making corporate travel arrangements with precision, speed and attention to detail.
Merete Christensen is the owner of SCANTRAVEL. Originally from Denmark, she has extensive knowledge of all of Scandinavia.
She is skilled at creating independent travel itineraries to get the most out of your time in Scandinavia. She also loves selling cruises and can recommend a beautiful beach anywhere you wish to travel. In the travel industry since 1970, she loves helping her customers create the vacation of their dreams.
MaryAnn Britton joined our team in 2004 because she loves all aspects of travel & traveling. MaryAnn is a retired elementary school principal and a life-long resident of the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. She is an experienced cruiser and well-traveled, especially in the Caribbean. She is a part-time employee at the main office in Olney, Maryland. MaryAnn’s duties are primarily administrative. She exercises her excellent organizational skills to keep the main office running smoothly.
Our “new” employee is Erna Turner. Erna Turner, originally from Austria , has more than 20 years experience in the travel industry. She was an employee of Scantravel from 1984 to 2000, first as an agent and later as manager. She semi-retired to Cape Cod, but continued to work as an outside- sales agent. She has extensive knowledge of all of Europe and has traveled the world on both land and sea, most recently to South America and Africa.
